Instant Chocolate Superfood Chai To Go

Need an emergency pick-me-up? How about a comforting taste of home? THIS is your travel safety net. Everybody needs a healthy energy boost from time to time. My favorite is hot chocolate, cinnamon, dry coconut milk and superfoods. Yum! You could be stuck in the Denver airport, trekking the mountains of Nepal, or taking a break at school or work. Just whip out your zip-lock bag, add hot water, stir and enjoy! This instant beverage will give you a healthy energy lift, with no blood sugar spike or extra pounds. Yay! It has zero carbs, the cacao will give you pleasant, calming endorphins. Powdered Coconut Milk makes it creamy and rich.

Optional spices and superfoods offer a powerful energy lift that will keep you going strong. Schisandra berry powder and Maca powder can be found at most herb stores or online. (I used my superblender to grind the schisandra berries into powder.) You’ll need a few small plastic bags – I suggest 4 x 4 or 4 x 6 size, available at places like Hobby Lobby or Michael’s. Of course you can vary the recipe any way you please! Store your powdered elixir in a cool place for months. The recipe below helps you measure 1, 4, 8, or 16 servings.

With a few baggies of chocolate superfood chai in my pack, I’m ready to go anywhere!

Instructions:

Assemble all your ingredients. Choose your desired number of servings (1, 4, 8, or 16) and follow that column. Measure out all your ingredients into a bowl or food processor. Mix well with a whisk or processor so the ingredients are evenly distributed. Oh, and infuse your mixture with love!

Divide your elixir evenly between the baggies. One serving is approximately 2 1/2 to 3 tablespoons of powder in each bag.

Close the baggies, making sure to remove excess air so they pack well and don’t break open in luggage. Put small baggies in a larger bag to protect your delicious booty. OK, you’re ready to go!
